Abby Carpenter

Abby Carpenter is an Indigenous law student with a passion for advocating for the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous people and communities. She is in her third year at Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University and is the President of the Indigenous Law Student Association. She represented Lincoln Alexander School of Law at the Kawaskimhon Moot 2023, in Victoria, B.C., and sits on the Lincoln Alexander Indigenous Legal Education Committee. Born and raised on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, Abby has always had an equal connection to Haudenosaunee Legal Principles, traditions, ceremony and cultural genocide with her attending Day School and her direct blood connection to residential school. Driven by her desire to make a difference for her community, her dedication, passion, and deep understanding of Indigenous issues, Abby combines her lived experience as an intergenerational trauma survivor, and her legal education to address the ongoing impacts of colonization in her role as the Acting Assistant to Dr. Beverly Jacobs at the University of Windsor.
