Whether or not they disclose, trauma-affected people are present in every service setting. Being trauma-informed means reducing the risk of harm through avoiding retraumatizing people who have experienced trauma or creating additional trauma through our interactions. Join us for an introduction to trauma-informed service delivery, including understanding what trauma is, the effects it can have, and best practices to create supportive environments for all service users, whether or not they have been affected by trauma.

Microaggressions are interactions or exchanges that send negative messages to marginalized people, whether through words, gestures, looks, or other actions. While the name may suggest otherwise, microaggressions can cause major harm and can be a source of chronic trauma, leading to anxiety, depression, and other mental health effects. Join us for a session introducing microaggressions, their effects, and identifying and avoiding them in our interactions, as well as how to respond as the recipient or as a bystander.
