Getting Started with The Conversation Canada

The Conversation is an independent, not-for-profit media outlet dedicated to bringing scholarly work to a general leadership. Articles are run on The Conversation, but are then picked up by publications all over the world: the reach is approximately 35 million through republication. Windsor has recently joined 18 other Canadian universities as members: all academics can become registered contributors, with access to editorial help, collaboration, professional development, readership analytics, and access to queries for expertise. In this session, Editor Scott White will explain how The Conversation works, and explore how participation can help researchers meet their goals. Topics: - Introduction to The Conversation Canada: vision and value - Registering as an author and "pitching" ideas via the website - Analytics demo - A "story meeting" to discuss ideas with prospective authors - Working with staff from The Conversation

The University’s Dual-Career Connection Program, offered by the Lucas Professional Search Group, helps new faculty members’ partners to continue and advance their careers after relocating to Windsor. This program facilitates the job-search process through individual meetings with the experienced Lucas Professional Search Group staff to assess employment skills and experience, orientation to local area job resources and networks, support in developing an online employment presence through various social media, and follow-up. Lucas representatives will outline the services they provide and be available to answer any questions you may have. This session is a great opportunity to meet other new arrivals, too!

This workshop will introduce new faculty members to the Blackboard Learn environment and online learning. Participants will walk through the process of organizing the course menu, adding material to your site, and determining tool availability. Specific topics will be addressed (time permitting), through Q & A, and possible demonstrations.

You must have activated your UWin ID and password to be able to fully participate in this workshop. If not, please email lorie@uwindsor.ca in advance of the session for alternative access options.

Bb Decaf Level:
This option will offer a relaxed, and slower-paced workshop by placing an emphasis on step-by-step learning. This category is suitable for the emerging technical explorer or the learner who is new to using learning management systems.

This session introduces faculty to UWinsite Student, the University of Windsor's new student information platform. UWinsite Student includes modules for student records, admissions, academic advising, and student financials and financial aid. Faculty can access UWinsite Student via a self-service portal to submit final grades, monitor grade appeals, and add or remove students from a course, among other tasks.

Associate Deans and AAU Heads Orientation

The Office of the Provost has initiated a series of orientations and welcome seminars for our new and returning personnel to help familiarize them with the various important aspects of their position(s).

This online event is an introductory orientation for incoming heads of academic administrative units (AAUs) and associate deans, and we extend this invitation to those who are already serving in those positions and would like to refresh their knowledge or learn different perspectives about their responsibilities.
